Rio’s Annaprashan
Annaprashan or in Bengal, Mukhe Bhaat, is a traditional ceremony that celebrates a child’s transition to solid food. It was great to witness Rio’s Rice Ceremony. Baby Rio, his family, and guests were dressed in colorful traditional attire. It was a fun scene to watch when little Rio thoroughly enjoyed the fried fish head as part of his first rice dish.
A part of the ritual, Rio was presented a tray with ritual objects that consisted of a book, a pen, dollar, and more. Each item represented something different such as education, wisdom, and wealth. Whichever object Rio chose was believed to represent his future area of interest. Rio grabbed the pen that means he will take education before wealth. Many jokes were made and spirits were high! The ceremony was followed by a feast with friends and families.
Here are a few moments captured during the event, will look forward to hearing your feedback.
